Florida Hospital Altamonte Centennial Campaign

In order to meet the needs of the rapidly-growing Seminole County community, Florida Hospital Altamonte is expanding and upgrading its current facilities. As part of the Centennial Campaign, Florida Hospital Altamonte has set a goal of raising $6 million by 2008 to support the construction of four new state-of-the-art surgical suites, the expansion of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Pre-OP holding rooms, acquisition of advanced technology, and additional shelled space for future surgical expansion.

In the new surgical suites at Florida Hospital Altamonte, the focus is directed entirely toward the patient. State-of-the-art equipment is suspended from the ceiling, so it does not clutter the operating room or become an obstacle to the surgical team. Technological advancements are integrated and systems are within easy reach, with no overcrowding of the operating room. Voice activation and touch-screen monitors put doctors and nurses in full control of the surgical environment.

At Florida Hospital Altamonte, the new surgical suites will support minimally-invasive, specialized surgical procedures, which will speed recovery times for patients, cause less pain immediately after surgery and leave minimal scar tissue or disfigurement.

Additional details about the Center for Surgical Advancement:

  • The Center for Surgical Advancement will consist of four new surgical suites, to include suites for Laminar Airflow (LAM Flow) and minimally-invasive surgeries. There will be shell space for up to five additional suites, to be added as needed.

  • Extra space and high ceilings will provide room for surgical lights, power boom and expanded equipment for minimally-invasive and robotic technology.

  • Retractable anesthesia columns to give surgeons more access to the patient from all angles.

  • Surgeons and nurses will have voice-activated control to quickly adjust lights, camera and bed so all surgical staff can have the best field of vision during procedures.

Ceiling-mounted controls improve efficiency and help keep the surgical area clean, sterile and uncluttered.

  • Touch screen computer monitors give surgeons and nurses easy access to patient information, eliminating any delays for confirmation of medical status. Integrated Information Systems will allow the medical team to retrieve endoscopic images, lab results, X-rays or any other patient information during surgery reducing surgery times and benefiting the both the patient and medical staff.

  • A new conference center will support surgical learning, enabling physicians, surgeons and staff to remain as current as the technology.

There are many ways that you can help Florida Hospital Altamonte reach its goal of building new surgery suites. If you are interested in learning more, please call April McCoy at 407-303-2639 or contact us online.
