Digestive Health

Digestive disorders affect more than 95 million Americans annually, and are therefore among the most common and serious afflictions affecting individuals today. The Florida Hospital Digestive Health Center strives to bring the full measure of knowledge, technology, talent and compassion to bear on the health and well being of the patients we serve.

Like many other Florida Hospital Altamonte services, Endoscopy’s greatest asset is the warm, friendly, safe and efficient care patients receive from one of the area’s most experienced teams. They offer a comprehensive array of in- and outpatient services, including assisting the Florida Hospital Cancer Center at Altamonte to place catheters for high-dose radiation therapy in patients undergoing treatment for lung cancer. Team members provide many different interventions, including:

  • Upper GI (gastrointestinal) tract endoscopy for examining organs in the upper GI tract
  • Lower GI tract endoscopy for examining the colon or rectum, and sigmoid colon
  • Bronchoscopy for examining air passages

What's new at Florida Hospital Altamonte's Digestive Health Department…

Endoluminal Gastroplication – a procedure in which the physician creates a “pleat” in the gastro-esophageal junction, effectively eliminating gastric reflux.

With over 1,000 procedures performed monthly, Florida Hospital Altamonte’s Digestive Heatlh Unit sees more patients than any other Seminole County facility.

U.S. News & World Report names Florida Hospital as one of the top hospitals in the nation for Digestive Disorders.
