Maximizing the dose to tumors while minimizing the dose to the surrounding normal tissue is a crowning achievement of the Florida Hospital Cancer Center at Altamonte's innovative Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).

IMRT is a form of three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) that links treatment planning and driver software to the actual treatment delivery devices. As a result, we can determine and deliver an optimum plan of individualized radiation for the patient.

The IMRT process allows treatment of irregularly shaped target volumes in the direct vicinity of critical structures with dose distributions that otherwise would not be obtainable.
