Can the baby stay with me in my room rather than being taken to the nursery?

Yes, we encourage rooming in! We want to start the mother baby bonding experience as early as possible.

I’ll be breastfeeding for the first time. Are lactation consultants available?

Yes, We have lactation consultants who are here to see all of our new moms and their babies.  As well our nursing staff have been trained to assist with breastfeeding as well.

Are there specific visiting hours?

Although Florida Hospital encourages a Restful environment,  we allow family to be a part of the labor and delivery experience at any time of day or night, as long as visitors are respectful of our new moms and their babies allowing for a restful environment as well.

Who can attend the birth?

You are welcome to have whomever you would like to attend your labor and your delivery experience.  We ask that visitors are respectful of mom’s desires for privacy during treatments/exams.

Can children visit the Labor and Delivery area?

Yes, we want your family to be involved in your care. Children are welcome as long as they do not exhibit signs/symptoms of a cold or flu.  For the safety of our newborns we ask that sick children and/or adults hold off on visiting the newborns.

Where can visitors wait during the labor?

There is a waiting area on the 4th floor Baby Place that family and friends are welcome to use.

What is the cell phone policy?

Cell phones are ok for use on our unit.

What are the guidelines for videotaping/photographing the birth?

The nursing staff will advise patients and family of the appropriate times for videography and photography.
